Our Austin Event Bartenders Serve at Ray Benson's Birthday Party

Last month, our Drink Slingers Austin bartenders were contracted by the organization that provides access to affordable health care for Austin’s low-income, uninsured working musicians; HAAM - Health Alliance for Austin Musicians. HAAM hired us to sling some drinks for their fundraiser/Birthday celebration for Ray Benson, HAAM's co-founder and frontman of the grammy-award-winnng band Asleep at the Wheel.

The night was beautiful and hundreds showed up to celebrate Ray, offer HAAM financial support, and listen to music. Asleep at the Wheel played for about an hour before one of the surprise guests of the night, George Strait, took the stage. Every one of our Drink Slingers toe-tapped and sang along, some of us danced, all of us wore wide smiles as we listened to songs by George and the other guests - Jimmy Vaughan, Dale Watson, The Avett Brothers and Carolyn Wonderland.

When the night ended, many of our Slingers exclaimed, "It's over already?!" And it did seem like the six hours we had been there went by in an instant. It isn't every night that we get to the end of service and realize we aren't quite ready to go home.

And we were further surprised when HAAM wrote us a personalized Thank You note for our Austin Event Bartenders' hard work. We were so grateful for the opportunity to work with HAAM and it makes us smile evern wider knowing that we knocked it out of the proverbial park.
